LITERACY
At Crib Point Primary School the purpose of the Literacy Program is to provide opportunities to develop students skills in the four modes of the English language: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.
The teachers currently base their approach on the English Curriculum and Standards Framework II, which aims to develop in students;
The ability to speak, listen, read, view and write with enjoyment, purpose, effect and confidence in a wide range of situations.
Knowledge of the ways in which language varies according to context, purpose, audience and content, and the ability to apply this knowledge,
Knowledge of the language patterns used to construct different texts, and the skills to apply this knowledge,
A broad knowledge of a range of texts and the capacity to relate this knowledge to aspects of personal experience and the world around them.
The teachers will be undergoing changes in their approaches to teaching Literacy to bring their programs in line with the Victorian Essential Learning Standards currently being introduced into schools.
